F9 (also known as F9: The Fast Saga and Fast & Furious 9) is a 2021 American action film directed by Justin Lin and based on a script written by Daniel Casey and Lin. It is the ninth main installment and tenth full-length film in the Fast & Furious franchise, after The Fate of the Furious (2017). Sung Kang, Michael Rooker, Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell, and Charlize Theron star alongside Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Michael Rooker, Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell, and Charlize Theron in the picture. Dominic Toretto and the gang join forces in F9 to fight a world-shattering scheme led by Toretto's brother, Jakob.
Lin was revealed to be directing Fast & Furious 9 in October 2017, returning to the franchise after directing Fast & Furious 6 in 2014. With a ninth and tenth picture planned since 2014, Lin was reported to be directing F9 in October 2017. (2013). Since The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), F9 is the first film in the franchise not written by Chris Morgan. Principal photography began in June 2019 with the addition of John Cena, and continued until November of the same year, with filming locales including London, Los Angeles, Tbilisi, and Thailand.
F9 was supposed to be released on April 19, 2019, but it was postponed multiple times, first due to the release of Hobbs & Shaw (2019) and the planned release of Metro-Goldwyn-No Mayer's Time to Die (2021) and then due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It premiered in South Korea on May 19, 2021, and was released internationally on May 19, 2021, and on June 25, 2021, in the United States. The film got mixed reviews, with some praising the stunts and Lin's direction and others criticizing the implausible action sequences and clichéd screenplay. F9 broke multiple pandemic box office records, making over $681 million worldwide to become 2021's third highest-grossing film.

Storyline: F9: The Fast Saga
Dom is now retired and raising his son Brian with his wife, Letty Ortiz, two years after the showdown with cyberterrorist Cipher. Mr. Nobody has captured Cipher, and his plane crashed in Montequinto, Central America, according to Roman Pearce, Tej Parker, and Ramsey. After learning that Jakob is implicated, Dom agrees to assist them. They discover part of an Ares gadget while searching for the plane, which can hack into any computer-controlled weapons system. The squad is ambushed and the device is stolen by a private army led by Jakob. On their way to their safe place, the crew meets up with Michael Stasiak. Mia, Dom's sister, arrives to assist, and Dom grudgingly agrees to let her join them. When the crew discovers that Han Lue is linked to Ares, Letty and Mia travel to Tokyo to look into it.
In the meantime, Jakob has a meeting with Otto, one of his associates. After failing to persuade Jakob, Cipher is imprisoned at their base and informs him that the second half of Ares is in Edinburgh. Dom runs into Buddy, his father's former mechanic, who took Jakob in during his exile and informs him that he is in London. Letty and Mia discover Han, who is still alive, and his friend Elle. Roman and Tej recruited Sean Boswell, Twinkie, and Earl Hu, who had been working on a "rocket automobile," among the people Roman and Tej recruited. Dom meets Queenie Shaw in London, who tells him where Jakob is. Dom approaches Otto and Jakob, who urges him to get out of there. Dom is apprehended by Otto, but he is rescued by Leysa, an old acquaintance of Dom's.
Dom is joined by Tej, Roman, and Ramsey in Edinburgh, where Jakob is stealing the second Ares gadget using an electromagnet. While Tej and Roman fight Otto's men for control of the truck with the electromagnet, Ramsey commandeers the truck to pursue Otto. Dom catches up with Jakob and the two brawl all around town. Ramsey drives his car off the road and captures Jakob using the magnets before Otto can extract him.
Cipher is recruited by Otto. Han discloses to Elle and Ares that he was sent to defend them at the safe house since Elle's DNA is the final component. Deckard Shaw was used to fake Han's death and protect Elle when one of Mr. Nobody's spies, ultimately revealed to be Jakob, went rogue. Otto storms the safe house and frees Jakob, who explains that Jack, desperate to avoid his obligations, told Jakob to tamper with his car to deliberately throw the race. Due to Linder's meddling, the scheme failed. Elle is kidnapped and the second Ares gadget is taken by Jakob and Otto.
Jakob has Elle ignite Ares while Otto launches a spacecraft into orbit. They begin downloading Ares to the satellite in an armored truck that travels across Tbilisi. To stop the upload, Dom, Letty, Mia, Ramsey, and Han pursue it. Otto betrays Jakob, throwing him off the truck, as Mia and Han try to breach the truck. Dom and Mia save Jakob, who then assists Dom in getting inside the truck. Tej and Roman use the rocket car to enter orbit and destroy the satellite, halting the upload. In an attempt to kill Dom, Cipher remotely pilots a jet and bombs the truck, killing Otto; Dom uses the ricocheting truck to smash Cipher's plane. Cipher manages to get away. Dom and Mia make amends with Jakob, and Dom lets him drive away in his car. Tej and Roman made it to the International Space Station and returned to Earth safely.
At Dom's place, the squad celebrates their victory with a cookout. Brian O'Conner enters in his automobile as the congregation is preparing to say grace. Deckard is astonished when Han arrives at his home in a mid-credits scene.

Some trifles: F9: The Fast Saga
Brian O'Connor can be seen pulling up to the Toretto residence in a bayside blue Nissan Skyline [the same one he drove in Fast and Furious (2009)] during the BBQ scene towards the end of the film. Paul Walker did own a bayside blue Nissan Skyline R34 worth around 1.37 million dollars before his death.
With a pipe wrench, little Dom (Vinnie Bennett) kills Kenny Linder (Jim Parrack). In The Fast and the Furious (2001), Dom (Vin Diesel) tells Brian (Paul Walker) that he beat Kenny with a wrench and went to prison for it. Brian's employer, Sergeant Tanner (Ted Levine), states that he beat Linder with a 3/4" torque wrench in another scene (00:55:07).
F9 is the first time we witness Dominic Toretto's father and Kenny Linder involved in a tragic tragedy. This accident was originally mentioned by Toretto in The Fast and the Furious (2001). Kenny Linder departed the racing circuit and now works as a janitor, according to Dom in The Fast and the Furious.
There are small quips throughout the film about how ridiculous the fast saga has become and mentioning plot armor, such as around 35:57 when Roman remarks on how strange it is that they have been on missions where death is unavoidable and he has no scars to show for it, to which Ramsey responds, "Maybe it's just luck."
While launching a jerry-rigged Pontiac Fiero into space from the back of an airplane is already unlikely, Tej and Roman arriving in Earth's orbit only a short distance from both the enemy satellite and, later, the International Space Station, is simply unbelievable.
Mistakes: F9: The Fast Saga
- The imaginary country of Montequinto, which is presumably either in Central America or northern South America and boasts incredibly high cliffs beside gigantic karst-rock formations, is the setting for the film's opening action sequence. There is nothing remotely equivalent in the Americas: such formations can only be found in the regions of Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. (Thailand was used to film the sequence.)
- Vehicles with automatic transmissions are once again depicted as having manual transmissions with a clutch pedal and/or shifter. In the opening sequence in Montequinto, Dom is shown "shifting" his Dodge Charger Hellcat-which has never been sold with a manual transmission-in the opening sequence in Montequinto, and Tej "shifts" many times for no apparent purpose as Tej, Roman, and Ramsey drive over a falling bridge. The transmission appears to be in the park in one photo, which would make driving difficult.
- Electromagnets are devices that can achieve things that no other device can, such as repelling cars forcefully. Real electromagnets can't repel or attract items in only one direction, and the force and heat generated by an electromagnet capable of drawing a car from a few inches away have been utterly overlooked. The gadgets are unreal in every way and can only be explained by magic.
- The Acura NSX is the car that the main characters drive when they first arrive in London. This is erroneous because this automobile is exclusively offered in the United States with an Acura badge, and it would have been badged as a Honda NSX in London if it was a UK-market NSX. Given the NSX's left-hand-drive configuration and the fact that Dom and his team had secretly transported at least a half-dozen North American-market vehicles to Europe (including Han's brand-new Toyota Supra), they could have done so.
