Halloween Kills is a slasher film directed by David Gordon Green and written by Green, Danny McBride, and Scott Teems. It was released in the United States in 2021. The film is the twelfth episode in the Halloween franchise and is a sequel to 2018's Halloween. Jamie Lee Curtis and James Jude Courtney, who played Laurie Strode and Michael Myers, respectively, reprise their roles. Anthony Michael Hall and Thomas Mann join the cast, with Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, and Will Patton reprising their roles from the previous film. Strode and her family continues to fight Myers in this film, which picks up right where the previous one left off. This time, with the support of the Haddonfield townspeople.
Through his Blumhouse Productions company, Jason Blum, Malek Akkad, and Bill Block serve as producers for the picture. Before the film's release, McBride claimed that he and Green had planned to propose two films that would be shot back-to-back but had decided against it after seeing how the first picture was received. Following the critical and commercial success of the first film in 2018, work on the sequel began in October of that year. Teems was hired to co-write the script in February 2019. The title of the film, as well as its sequel, was revealed in July 2019. Principal photography began in Wilmington, North Carolina, in September 2019 and ended in November of the same year.
Halloween Kills made its international premiere at the 78th Venice International Film Festival on September 8, 2021, after a year-long delay due to the COVID-19 epidemic, and was theatrically released in the United States on October 15, 2021, by Universal Pictures. It will also be available for 60 days on Peacock's premium tiers. The film has grossed $118 million worldwide on a $20 million production budget, and critics have mixed feelings about it, praising the imaginative kills and performances while criticizing the narrative and lack of innovation.

Storyline: Halloween Kills
In the meantime, Tommy Doyle, together with other survivors like Marion Chambers, Lindsey Wallace, and Cameron's father, Lonnie Elam, commemorates the 40th anniversary of Michael's incarceration. Firefighters rushing to Laurie Strode's blazing house unwittingly release Michael, who slaughters them with their apparatus. Laurie, her daughter Karen, and her granddaughter Allyson are transported to Haddonfield Memorial Hospital for emergency surgery, while Michael murders Laurie's neighbors and returns to Haddonfield.
A wireless emergency alert informs Tommy, Marion, Lindsey, and Lonnie about Michael's killing spree. Vanessa, a bar patron, allegedly runs into Michael in her car, but the driver crashes and flees unseen. Tommy organizes a violent Haddonfield mob to track down and kill Michael. Karen learns that Michael is still alive, but she keeps it a secret from Laurie to give her time to recover. Allyson reconciles with her ex-boyfriend Cameron and joins Tommy's mafia to avenge the killing of her father. Laurie and Hawkins wake up in the same room, reminiscing about their previous relationship.
Marion, Vanessa, and her husband, Marcus, are killed by Michael while urging the Haddonfield population to stay inside their homes. Tommy, Lonnie, Allyson, and Cameron track out Lindsey and find her alive. The gang plots Michael's path and the locations of his victims, concluding that he is on his way back to his childhood home. Tommy transports Lindsey to the hospital, where he meets former Haddonfield sheriff Leigh Brackett, whose daughter Annie was murdered in 1978, and informs Laurie of Michael's survival. As Laurie prepares to leave the hospital, Michael murders the current owners of his home across town.
Lance Tovoli, a fugitive convict from Smith's Grove Psychiatric Hospital and Vanessa's vehicle driver, comes and is mistaken for Michael. Before Karen discovers he isn't Michael, Tommy's gang pursues him around the hospital. Despite her best efforts to calm the mob and assist Lance, he dies by jumping out a window. Laurie encourages Karen to team up with Tommy and Brackett to track down Michael. Lonnie, on the other hand, goes to Michael's house alone and is killed. Before being ambushed by Michael, who murders Cameron, Allyson and Cameron run inside and discover his body.
Karen stabs Michael in the back with a pitchfork, steals his mask, and teases him to follow her as he prepares to murder Allyson. She takes Michael into Tommy's horde, which swarms, attacks, and kills him. Michael recovers and massacres the entire mob, including Tommy and Brackett, when the mob disperses. Karen returns to Michael's house to investigate while Allyson receives medical attention. As Laurie stares out the window of her hospital room, Michael comes and stabs Karen to death in Judith Myers' old bedroom.

Some trifles: Halloween Kills
Laurie Strode is the only character in a Halloween film who does not appear in any scenes with Michael Myers.
The "umbrella guy" from the opening sequence of Halloween is an escaped mental patient who is mistaken for Michael Myers by the mob, culminating in him jumping to his death (2018).
The filmmakers did reproduce the original William Shatner mask for the opening sequence, which takes place immediately after the events of the first film, though they constructed a new mask for the 2018 picture that looked identical to the original mask but simply weathered to suggest it had aged.
The filmmakers recreate the high angle crane shot from the original 1978 film's prologue when Michael flees his boyhood home and is besieged by police at the end of the prologue.
Other than a Strode (in the new canon chronology), Lindsey Wallace is the only person who has faced Michael and survived. She also manages to hide from Michael while being followed, which Laurie did not manage in the original 1978 picture.
The opening title sequence features twelve pumpkins, the last of which identifies Halloween Kills as the franchise's twelfth episode.
Jamie Lee Curtis, Charles Cyphers, Kyle Richards, Nancy Stephens, and Nick Castle all appeared in the first Halloween (1978), and they all reprised their roles in this sequel. Because Andrews has been retired from acting since 2015 and Le Page never performed again after the original Halloween, the characters of Tommy Doyle and Lonnie Elam were recast with Anthony Michael Hall and Robert Longstreet.
Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode for the sixth time, surpassing Donald Pleasence (Dr. Loomis), who had the most appearances in the series with five films.
When they were looking for a yearbook photo of one of Michael Myers' victims from the 1978 film, David Gordon Green stumbled found a yearbook photo of Bob Odenkirk, who he thought looked like original actor John Michael Graham. Green was able to utilize Odenkirk's portrait instead of the actor's because of the difficulties of the right. Despite not physically appearing in the film, Odenkirk is credited as' Bob. '
Mistakes: Halloween Kills
- A blue 1970s Ford police car is seen in the flashback scenario from 1978. The police car's red and blue light bar was manufactured in the 1980s.
- Tommy Doyle says at one point that Michael Myers "always" wears a mask, thus only a few people know what he looks like. Even though Michael appears to be wearing the same mask for a long period in certain Halloween pictures, none of those films are part of the new continuity. Instead, Michael Myers only wears the iconic mask at the climaxes of the only two films in the same timeline like this one (1978 original and Halloween), and he spends most of those flicks unmasked. Michael Myers' face is out of focus and obscured to the audience due to the camera, yet canonically multiple characters have seen him unmasked. Furthermore, Michael Myers has spent 40 years in a mental institution, so a lot of people should recognize him, especially someone as infatuated with him as Doyle.
- When the outraged crowd of residents chases the mental asylum escapee around the hospital, they eventually learn that he is not the actual Michael Myers after a long chase. They should have noticed right away, because he isn't even close to the actual Michael's height-he's roughly half his stature.
- During the flashback scene, Loomis' station wagon features a passenger-side mirror, when the original wagon on Halloween only had a driver-side mirror.
- Izmir, Turkey is noted as the site of death on Ranbir Sartain's toe tag in the mortuary. This was supposed to be a tribute to Haluk Bilginer, the Turkish actor who played Sartain in the Halloween film, but the toe tag should have said "place of birth" instead of "place of death," because Ranbir Sartain was murdered in Haddonfield, Illinois.
- Myers' actor, James Jude Courtney, accidentally strikes the camera, causing it to wobble, during the scene where Michael crawls into the automobile to murder Marion.
- Marion shoots out the back driver side glass during the park attack while Michael is on top of the SUV, which Vanessa then leaps out of to flee. When Michael falls down in front of the window shortly after Marcus goes to climb out, the reverse camera shows Michael's entire reflection in the fully shattered window. With the window gone, this would be impossible.
