Storyline: Apex (2021)

A group of hunters pays for a high-end hunt on a desert island, where they will be hunting for a man. Until the hunters become the prey, everything goes according to plan. James Malone (Bruce Willis), a former cop, is serving a life sentence for a crime he did not commit. If he survives a hazardous game in which a group of hunters pay for the pleasure of hunting another human on a lonely island, he is given a chance to regain his freedom. Malone accepts the terms, and when he comes, he sets up traps and engages in a psychological battle with the hunters. The Most Dangerous Game was loosely based on this story.

James Malone, a former cop, is currently serving a life sentence for a crime he did not commit. He is offered a shot at freedom provided he can survive a deadly game of Apex, in which six hunters pay to hunt another human on a distant island. He accepts, and then all hell breaks loose as he arrives.

Ex-cop Thomas Malone, who is serving a life sentence for a crime he didn't commit, is offered a shot at release if he can survive a lethal game of Apex. On a lonely island, six hunters pay for the privilege of hunting another human, but when Malone comes, all hell breaks loose. Malone tries to turn the tables by setting traps and playing mind games to fight for his life and future.

According to West, one of the accidents Malone survived was being the sole survivor of a train wreck. "Unbreakable" is mentioned directly.

When the hologram first meets Malone, she says he is O-, yet his file plainly states AB-when she reveals it to the hunters.

They cite a crushed spine from jumping off a building while talking about Malone's injuries. Possibly alluding to the scene in Die Hard where he jumps off a building while dangling from a firehose,

In one scene, the river valley with the half-moon during sunset is depicted. The moon is pointing away from the setting sun.

According to writer-director Edward Drake, he began writing the script in April 2020 and finished it in late August 2020, filming it over eight days into early September.

Based on Richard Conwel's short story "The Most Dangerous Game," which was initially published in 1924. Big game hunter Sanger Rainsford becomes the prey in the short story after falling off a boat and swimming to Ship-Trap Island, where he is hunted by General Zaroff.

When they were talking about Malone's injuries, they brought up the fact that he was the only survivor of a railway accident. This could be a reference to Bruce Willis's character from the film Unbreakable (2000).
