Sing 2 is a computer-animated musical comedy film released in 2021 by Illumination Entertainment and distributed by Universal Pictures. Garth Jennings wrote and directed the sequel to the 2016 film Sing, which also stars Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton, Tori Kelly, Nick Kroll, Jennings, Peter Serafinowicz, Jennifer Saunders, and Nick Offerman, who reprise their characters from the original film. Bobby Cannavale, Pharrell Williams, Halsey, Chelsea Peretti, Letitia Wright, Eric André, Adam Buxton, and Bono all provide their voices for new characters in the sequel. Sing 2 includes songs from a variety of performers, the majority of which are performed diegetically, like in the prior film.

The plot picks up after the events of the previous film, in which Buster Moon and his band put on a show in Redshore City to impress an entertainment mogul and recruit the help of a reclusive rock star.

Sing 2 had its international premiere at the AFI Fest on November 14, 2021, and Universal Pictures distributed it in RealD 3D in the United States on December 22, 2021. The film earned mostly positive reviews from reviewers and had a worldwide total of more than $150 million.

Storyline: Sing 2 (2021)

Buster Moon's new theater is thriving some time after the events of the previous film. After failing to impress talent scout Suki, who tells him he won't make it in Redshore City, Buster, encouraged by Nana Noodleman, gathers the singers from the previous film and transports them to the city. They slip in for an audition with Jimmy Crystal, the Hollywood mogul. Buster's initial show concept is uninterested in and proposes a space-themed show starring Clay Calloway, a rock star who hasn't been seen in 15 years. Crystal gives it her blessing and tells them they have three weeks to get the program up and running.

During the show's production, Rosita develops a phobia of heights and is unable to continue in her role, which is transferred to Crystal's daughter Porsha, with Rosita relegated to a small role. Meanwhile, for his role in the show, Johnny has been assigned to work with renowned choreographer Klaus Kickenklober, but he believes Klaus dislikes him. Johnny encounters Nooshy, a street dancer who promises to assist him. Meena is in a romantic scene with Darius, a self-absorbed actor with whom she has no chemistry. She later meets and falls in love with Alfonso, an ice-cream salesman.

Ash and Buster pay a visit to Clay Calloway to persuade him to join the show. At first, he refuses, but Ash changes his mind. Buster asks Porsha if she'd want to trade roles with Rosita because she can't act, which Porsha takes as Buster firing her. When Crystal learns of this, he accuses Porsha of humiliating him and threatens Buster with throwing him out of his building and locking him in a closet. Suki sets Buster free and advises him to flee Redshore City before Crystal kills him. Calloway encourages Buster to not flee and hide as he did after losing his wife, and Ash comes with the team and Calloway. Buster then resolves to have the actors and crew put on the play that night, right in front of Crystal's eyes, and has Miss Crawly enlist Porsha's help.

Klaus impersonates Johnny's performance partner during the show in an attempt to undermine his number, but Johnny defeats Klaus with the help of Nooshy and earns Klaus' respect, while Meena imagines Darius as Alfonso and performs a loving duet with him. After learning about the concert and becoming enraged when Porsha stands up to him, Crystal tries to put a stop to it by tossing Buster over the top of the stage, forcing Rosita to overcome her phobia of heights to save Buster. When it's time for Calloway to take the stage, he says he's not prepared. Ash leads the audience in a version of one of Calloway's songs, which gives him the confidence to accept a standing ovation.

Crystal gets apprehended by the cops after the show. While Buster and his buddies are about to leave, Suki informs them that their show has been offered to a prominent theater. As the cast puts on their debut performance, Buster stands in the VIP area, proud of his success in Redshore City.

Some trifles from Sing 2 (2021)

Bono's character is named Clay Calloway, in honor of real-life musician Cab Calloway.

Scarlett Johansson and Bono will sing a duet of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For."

The film will be released in theaters one day after the fifth anniversary of the original film.

Mike and Eddie aren't addressed in this film, so it's unclear whether the former and his girlfriend were still alive at the time of the events.

After Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) and Sing (2016), which all came out in 2016, this is Matthew McConaughey's third animated feature.

Mistakes on Sing 2 (2021)

Porsha's fur is an uneven shade of blue throughout the film. Various shades of blue, from light to dark.
